Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) Tour

NSBE-UI tours the SEL Manufacturing facility in Pullman, Washington. SEL, founded by Edmund O. Schweitzer III in 1982, introduced the world's first digital protective relay to the electric power industry in 1984.

The first SEL digital relay, the SEL-21 rovolutionized the power protection industry by providing fault locating and real fault data at a much lower cost to consumers than traditional electromechanical relays.
